Gideon Jura / Kytheon Iora, but Without Arms or Legs

Another school project! We were tasked with creating a character bust in ZBrush, and having revisited some Magic: The Gathering lore recently, I decided to try my hand at modelling my favourite White Planeswalker!
(I would've said my favourite White Planeswalker was Ajani but he's actually been in multiple colours, so that's cheating.)

I'm also relatively new to polypainting, so I decided to include both the painted and unpainted busts for side-by-side comparisons in the event the colours I used seem too distracting and take away from the subject of the shot.

Reference board one, studying Gideon's classic armor design. Upon further scrutiny, I realised that the raised sigils are very inconsistent.
With that in mind I decided to see if I could try to make my own funky-yet-convincing pattern!

Reference board two, looking further into Gideon's classic armor, as well as the robes he donned in Amonkhet to take part in the five Trials. I was on the fence about which outfit I wanted this bust to rock, but it was easier to reference the classic.

Reference board 3. Largely zooming in onto GIdeon's facial features, since each artwork looks like he's from a different country. I decided to try out a more European look in the end.
